(grades K-5) performed their "Choo Choo Ch' Boogie Concert" on December 14 in Powers Auditorium at Willamette High School. Nearly 300 voices gathered under the spotlights and sang a powerful performance with a variety of wonderful songs. |

| MOMMA: The Museum of
Modern Malabon Art, is the art museum located within the
cafeteria. There are three hanging galleries and a glass display case
housing 3-D art. Students are encouraged to continually submit art for
rotation within the galleries. All artistic mediums are accepted. You
can view selected art in our monthly publication of MA'AM: Malabon's Art Magazine. |

Art Magazine, is a monthly publication that highlights
student
artwork. This magazine features exhibits from MOMMA, as well as student art
submitted specifically for publication.

| Malabon Elementary School is
committed to providing your child with a musical education of the
highest caliber. Each student comes to music class two or three times a
week for one-half hour (15 minutes for Kinders). Each music class begins by listening to quality recorded music. Classical, jazz, and traditional styles are enjoyed, and historical tidbits are thrown in for good measure! "Show & Tell" features students that choose to perform for the class. Anything goes, and songs, piano, guitar, harmonica, drums, whistling ... you name it ... appear on a regular basis to showcase the students' talents. The
Music Curriculum: Five Critical Skill Sets
Our year begins with the singing segment. We learn proper vocal technique and sing only excellent musical literature, concluding with a public concert. We then move into the notation segment where students learn to read and write basic treble clef notes and rhythms. The keyboard segment follows. Students are taught how to read a simple tunes written on paper and play them on their chromatic keyboards The percussion segment focuses on the reading of rhythms ranging from quarter to sixteenths. We utilize drum pads and sticks and rehearse similarly to a marching band drum line. The year concludes with the guitar segment. Students learn the most useful basic guitar chords and how to read and strum chords as they sing along. |
